(LOS ANGELES) – In 2004, Annie Duke, one of the biggest names in poker, has been on a hot streak since winning her first World Series of Poker bracelet in 2004. She followed that by defeating nine former world champions – including her brother Howard Lederer – to capture the Tournament of Champions on ESPN. Now as a follow-up to her first DVD, How To Beat the Big Boys, which is available at retail now, The Beginner’s Guide and The Girl’s Guide, establish a series of poker DVDs, with techniques for everyone. The new DVDs will be released on January 10, 2006.
In Beginner’s Guide, Duke focuses on the beginner player for the first time. The program was created to reduce the stress of being new to the game. In addition, she reveals the poker strategies that have earned her millions of dollars.
From the first time she entered the high stakes circuit, Annie Duke has inspired women to get involved on the poker scene. In Girl’s Guide she disproves the myth that poker is a man’s domain by highlighting the differences of playing against the opposite sex. In both DVDs, she shares her secrets on how to gain confidence and avoid the pitfalls and turn the tables to your advantage.
The popularity of poker among women has spawned all-female poker clubs, websites for female poker players, poker apparel for women and tournaments exclusively for women. Some players even argue that women have a natural advantage over men in poker because of their temperament. True or not, gender equality is becoming more evident in the game of poker.
